The statistics has revealed that Americans are not contented with the present cost, access, and quality of healthcare structure. However, views of the public on how to transform the current structure conflicts with individual survey outcome. Similarly, Americans are equally discontented by their current healthcare structure and comparatively satisfied by their personal healthcare measures. This disagreement among the views and the community resulted into mistrust to the government by the public. This has affected the support for setting of ethics regarding what needs to be done about the overall problems facing the nations healthcare.
The individual health care in the United States cost more money compared to health care systems in other countries. Precautionary care is underutilized, consequential in higher expenditure on serious diseases. People suffering from chronic diseases like hypertension, heart disease, and diabetes are not treated effectively .This is because they are not given some necessary medical services. Such services may include drug therapies as well as self-management services necessary to improve their health status. This has resulted from improper coordination of medication care for patients with chronic diseases, the health care providers have no support and other equipments for communication so as work together to improve patient care effectively (Sultz, Young &ebrary, Inc, 2011).
The quality of health care varies depending on a hospital as some services offered are unnecessary or harmful. There are also variations in hospital inpatient length of stay, visit of specialists, procedures, testing and cost both geographically and institutionally. However, there is a significant discrepancy between the quality and efficiency of care provided. This is evident through inadequate treatment procedures as well as tangible information regarding treatment effectiveness. These problems are faced by low income earners and people from diverse ethnic and demographic groups who face disparities in health care (Sultz, Young &ebrary, Inc, 2011).
In conclusion, the health care system should be reformed to improve access, quality, and quality to address the high costs of health care, poor quality, and increasing numbers of Americans without health insurance coverage.
